A significant law enforcement presence is currently on scene at Ocean Lakes Family Campground following an escalating situation on Sunday night, as reported by Horry County police.
What initially started as a “weapons incident” evolved into a barricaded situation by 8 p.m. The response includes a bomb squad, SWAT team, negotiators, drone unit, and K-9 officers.
A person was taken into custody shortly after 9:45 p.m.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area and request that limited details be shared on social media to ensure the safety of the responders.
Ocean Lakes Family Campground is located at 6001 N. Kings Highway.
