HORRY COUNTY, S.C. – Horry County Names New Top Administrator

On Tuesday, Horry County officials appointed Barry Spivey as the new top administrator to succeed Steve Gosnell, who plans to retire in December.

Following a state and nationwide search, Spivey was selected about 90 seconds into a special meeting Tuesday morning. Officials had previously interviewed four candidates for the administrator position last week.

An Horry County official noted that over 40 applicants had applied for the role.

Spivey expressed his gratitude, referring to Gosnell as a “great mentor.”
