North Myrtle Beach Celebrates with Annual Foot Race

Celebrating Independence Day with a Foot Race

North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing shopping plaza extended the Independence Day celebrations with its annual Red, White and Blue 5K race. This family-friendly event attracted hundreds of participants who enjoyed music, refreshments, and a festive atmosphere.

Local and Visiting Participants Join the Fun

The race, now in its sixth year, saw a mix of local runners and visitors from places as far as Charlotte. Signs and cheers from friends and family lined the route, creating a supportive and energetic environment for all participants.

First-Place Wins and Patriotic Spirit

Couple Britni Gaddy and Victor Veloded clinched first-place wins in the women’s and men’s competitions, respectively. They expressed their joy in celebrating the Fourth of July a few days late, sporting patriotic attire and enjoying the community spirit.

“We love wearing our patriotic stuff, and it’s basically our home turf, so that was cool, and we weren’t here on the fourth, so it was good to celebrate a couple days after,” they said.

A Scenic Route and Festive Finish

Participants looped through the picturesque Barefoot Landing and concluded their run at Crooked Hammock Brewery. Each runner received a commemorative shirt and a finisher medal, adding to the sense of achievement and festivity.

Join the Fun Next Year

The annual Red, White, and Blue 5K is a perfect way to keep the holiday spirit alive while engaging in a healthy and fun activity. Mark your calendars for next year and join the North Myrtle Beach community in this vibrant celebration.
