Myrtle Beach Police Issue Warrants After Sprinkler Incident at Solid Rock Church Protest

Myrtle Beach, S.C. (All About Myrtle Beach) — Myrtle Beach police have issued warrants for a man caught on video last week spraying protestors with a pressurized sprinkler outside of Solid Rock Church.

Although the suspect’s name is not included in the incident report completed on June 30, the description of the suspect’s shirt matches the one worn by the individual recorded on a cell phone.

An officer arrived at the church at 803 Howard Ave. around 2 p.m., where a group of people were holding a peaceful protest on the sidewalk. According to the report, an older white male wearing a teal shirt exited the church’s side door, picked up a pressurized sprinkler from the grass, and intentionally sprayed the protestors.

Authorities stated the man admitted to his actions, citing his wife’s frustrations as the reason. Police have issued a warrant for third-degree assault and are seeking additional suspects.

On Sunday, barricades were set up around the church. Protestors have been gathering outside Solid Rock Church for weeks following the death of Mica Miller. Authorities reported that the 30-year-old woman died by suicide at Lumber River State Park on April 27.

John-Paul Miller, Mica’s husband, is the founder and senior pastor of Solid Rock Church. He declined to comment on the June 30 incident when contacted last week.

The investigation into Mica’s death began shortly after her suicide amid claims of domestic abuse, including John-Paul’s admissions of placing several GPS trackers on her vehicles and leaking an explicit photo of her online.

John-Paul has not been charged with any crime, although Mica had served him with divorce papers on April 25.
